Apparently this is one of the twelve unsold LFA’s, according to the FP article. Stopped by my local dealer to take a quick look at a GS-F and this was sitting there.
I’m not really sure what the point of this is - an investment to hold, I suppose.

A Nurburgring edition no less!

I can only really see one reason. Perhaps the owner is keeping the car for himself and is keeping it at the dealership.
I just don’t see a car like this on the showroom driving new business to a Lexus dealer.
From an investment standpoint I don’t see these cars really climbing in value for awhile. Long term they’ll surely go up, but will the outpace the return from other investment options?

The owner is the dealer, in this case - according to the FP article from a few weeks ago, this appears to be one of twelve that has never actually been sold. I’m not convinced of the unsold part (note the license plate), but I’m sure the dealer owns it.
It’s not driving traffic to the dealer, because it’s not like they advertise it- you’d have to walk in to see it.
And I completely agree with you on the investment potential - 5 years ago, this cost $450k new. I doubt it’s increased much in those years.

If I ever become insanely rich, I really want to buy a super exclusive limited edition car and drive it on cool roads around the world. Y’know, putting 200k miles on it.
This is why I still make minimum wage.

This thing has a V10 with a 9000 RPM redline. What you’re suggesting is WHAT THIS CAR IS FOR.
Not sitting in a showroom. :/

Life begins at 8000 rpm. Took mine above 8k in a tunnel with the windows down, it was glorious.

Ah, the wail of a high-revving V8 engine...
Makes me wonder how many times this car has seen 8k+ on its tach.

Probably 0 times, which is sad. It’s meant to be driven.

Depends on whether or not porters were allowed to move it or not. :)

Driving the lc500 and gsf remind me that Lexus once made a real performance car.

LOL - those two are more Grand Touring cars. What did you think of the GS-F? I’m considering a CPO GS-F for my next car in the spring, but haven’t driven it yet (I have a GS 350 now).

Thanks - I was wondering about that, the wing gives it away, doesn’t it?

That and the yellow paint job, although I did see a white one once.

It’s okay. I’m not the target market at 30 and single. The numbness is pretty apparent when you push it. It’s better then the rcf though. The gsf had a bit more body roll which actually is the only feedback that you get (don’t get that in the rcf). I hated the on/off throttle. The interior was nice. It understeers at the limit but the traction control paired with the upgraded diff (make sure you get that) works really well. I buried the throttle thorough a set of double S’s and let the traction control and diff do the work and you could feel the electronics reacting quickly. I was pretty shocked by that. The GSF was the only Lexus I’ve driven that I felt like was still fun with the traction control on.
With my money, looking at new cars in that price range, it’s gulia quadrafoflio. Granted, the gsf is a much bigger car. Outside of the lc500, no Lexus seems to feel special like an M car. I would also go XFR over GSF. I think it’s better looking and comparable in every other way. The latest XF also has an impressive interior. A lady friend of mine got inside and it really had that feeling like I picked her up in something special and wealthy (it was just the diesel r-design model).

Thanks for the detailed comments - much appreciated. Dailying a GS350, none of your comments on numbness, understeer, and the throttle surprise me one bit- was hoping it was reduced a little in the F, perhaps (at least the understeer). That and the transmission are my biggest complaints about the car (don’t get me wrong, it’s a good highway cruiser).
I’m closer to the GS’s target market, at 49. But it would have to be used, MSRP is silly on that car. I’m intrigued by the QF, but don’t really trust any FCA products- more to the point, though, the amount of rear legroom in my GS is an absolute minimum requirement, and I don’t think the Giulia is there. I’ll have to take a closer look at the XF when I start getting serious - thanks!

Love the car, but bloody hell that wing is an abomination to that car’s appearance. Just a complete eyesore.
On some cars, they can enhance the appearance, or at least work with the design. The Diablo, the Viper ACR, the R34 GT-R, etc. But on this it’s a huge, hairy wart on an otherwise beautiful woman.

It does look like a Pep Boys add on to me, made worse by the different color.
But I’m sure it was for function, not form in this case.
